How to obtain a Thai Driving Licence in HUA HIN
You need to go to the Pranburi Land Transport Office in person to complete the paperwork.
The following original paperwork (with photocopies) is usually required:
• Passport with valid non-immigrant visa (a tourist visa is not usually accepted).
• Work Permit or Certificate of Residence issued by the Thai Immigration Department.
• Medical certificate from a hospital or health clinic.
• Two photographs, 1x1 inch, no more than six months old.
• Valid international or foreign driving licence. A foreign driving licence must have a certified translation. Foreign driving licences in English will often be accepted with no translation.
The whole process can take a few hours to complete depending on the number of people applying. The forms have to be completed in Thai, so non Thai-speakers should take along a Thai speaker for interpretation and to help fill in the forms.
It is best to arrive at 08:30 am.
Applicants will be required to:
• Fill in the licence application form
• Hand in the application
• Participate in an eyesight test
• Participate in a reaction test
Once all the formalities have been completed a Thai driving licence, valid for one year will be issued. After this period it is possible to apply for a 5 year licence.
